What is an EduTech Geek? An admirer of all technologies used for educational purposes; wikis, informative websites, eBooks, eLearning modules, educational video, documentary film, etc.

Why Blog About It? It’s 2008, why not?! Really, I just want to fit in with all the “kool blogging kids.”

Who Am I? My name is De Anna L Fench, Ed.M. I am an instructional designer and writer studying New Media Studies @ DePaul University in Chicago. Areas of interest: Theatre/Film, Writing and New Media for educational purposes.
Edutechgeek is a blog created to discuss and document all things related to educational technology. In my head, that is everything from eLearning to Documentary Film & Video. My professional area, at least for right now, is Instructional Design for eLearning environments. Within the next year or so, I would definitely like to see my skill and understanding of eLearning Design grow into all forms of multimedia, especially video.
So many professions and terms fit under the broad umbrella of educational technology….I only hope to do them all justice. In the beginning of this professional blog it may seem like I am playing favorites between Instructional Design and Educational Video…I am. Excuse the “Wicked Stepmother Syndrome“, but those are my babies. My love for the other fields in the EduTech Family can only strengthen over time. I am definitely open to suggestions on content and sharing any posts or websites you feel would spark the interest of an EduTech Geek. The general goal is to inform the public with at least 2 posts per week. We’ll See.
Once again, thanks for visiting my blog!
